Our Shady Lawn Grass Seed Mix features a carefully curated combination of high-quality grass varieties, including Creeping Red Fescue, Perennial Ryegrass, and Poa Trivialis. These shade-tolerant species have been selected for their ability to thrive and flourish in areas with limited sunlight, ensuring excellent coverage and a rich, green lawn.

Whether you have a densely shaded backyard, a park with tree canopies, or recreational areas with minimal sun exposure, our seed mix is the ideal choice. It is suitable for a range of applications, including residential lawns, parks, and recreational areas, where maintaining a healthy and attractive lawn is essential.

When establishing a new lawn, we recommend a planting rate of 4-6 lbs per 1000 square feet to achieve optimal coverage and density. If you're overseeding an existing lawn in shaded areas, a rate of 2-3 lbs per 1000 square feet will help revitalize the turf and promote healthy growth.

To maximize the success of your lawn, it's important to choose the appropriate planting date based on the season. For spring planting, aim for the period between April and May when the soil is warming up and conditions are favorable for seed germination. Fall planting in August to September is also ideal, allowing the grass to establish strong roots before winter sets in.

Maintaining the proper mowing height is crucial for the health and appearance of your shady lawn. We recommend mowing at a height of 2-4 inches to encourage a dense turf, minimize weed competition, and promote healthy growth in low light conditions.

Shipping Policy

At Standish Milling, we're committed to delivering your products in a timely and cost-effective manner. Here's some information to help you understand our shipping costs.

UPS Ground Shipping

We primarily use UPS Ground for our shipping. The cost of shipping is calculated based on the weight of your order and your location. UPS Ground offers reliable, cost-effective delivery for packages under 150 lbs.

You can estimate your shipping costs by adding items to your cart and entering your shipping address. Our system will automatically calculate the shipping costs before you proceed to checkout.

LTL (Less Than Truckload) Shipping

For larger orders over 150 lbs, we use Less Than Truckload (LTL) shipping. LTL shipping is a cost-effective way to ship large orders by combining shipments from multiple customers.

Here's how it works:

  1. You get a quote: When you add items to your cart that total more than 150 lbs, our system will provide an LTL shipping quote. This quote is based on the total weight of your order and your shipping address.

  2. Your order is shipped: Once your order is ready, we send it to the shipping carrier who combines it with other shipments going in the same direction. This process allows us to save on shipping costs and pass those savings onto you.

  3. Your order is delivered: The carrier will deliver your order to your specified address. Keep in mind that delivery times for LTL shipments may be longer than UPS Ground shipments due to the consolidation process.

Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed for shipping. We make every effort to fulfill orders as quickly as possible. Understand we are a team of humans, working with human hands, and human brains. We aren’t perfect, but we’re pretty close.


Many of our orders are processed and shipped out within 48hrs of purchase. Orders placed on the weekends will be processed the following Monday.


If you have placed an order for in store pickup you will be able to pick the order up from our retail store located at 1331 W Cedar St. Standish, MI 48658. When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available. If you haven’t received your order within 5 days of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at with your name and order number, and we will look into it for you.


We accept returns up to 14 days after delivery if the item is unused and in its original condition. The buyer is responsible for shipping costs. In the event that your order arrives damaged in any way, please email us as soon as possible at with your order number and a photo of the item’s condition. Returns Policy

We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. Damages and issues

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.


The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.


We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
